Moooi, Smoke Chandelier Pendant Light
For a perfect blend of style and beauty, choose the Smoke Chandelier Pendant Light. Designed by Marten Baas in Netherlands in 2003, this pendant light features a modern, distinct and attractive shape. Crafted with burnt wood, it has an epoxy finish with three arms and three stubs that give it a unique look. The pendant light is named “smoke chandelier” since it had a dark finish achieved by burning the chandeliers to a certain degree. When lit, it offers an extraordinary brightness to the entire space. Its color does not fade as it has an epoxy coating resin. Hang this via an electrical cord or wire in lounges, private residences and other places where people get together. NOTE: 32.8ft cable available on request.

    Piece of Art

We consider it an ideal piece of art, though its unique design does not go down well with all our guests.

    Beautiful Candelabra
    February 22, 2013
What attracted me towards this lovely chandelier was its unique design. When I first read that it was formed from a unique process; using burned down pieces of furniture; I was instantly drawn to buy this lamp.

    Untamed dcor
    August 19, 2014
Our taste in dcor is resort chic. Wood in several forms predominates, and lighting formed of burnt wood adds the surprise element to our holiday home.

    Raw appeal

The unfinished look of the three chandelier arms, coated with epoxy resin. Exactly my idea of rustic design for our log cabin.

    Unique addition to library
    August 19, 2014
I like the thought that went behind this (pricey) candelabra. The smoky look matches our wood-lined library.

    Gothic much!

Unsettling to know that some furniture died in the creation of this piece! I now think it's perhaps overly dark.

Started by acclaimed designers Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers, Moooi has quickly developed a keen ability to produce some of the industry's most inspiring and truly innovative lighting products. Such products include Moooi lighting systems , like Heracleum, which was designed by Bertjan Pot, and collections like Raimond and Random Light.

Maintaining a healthy relationship with designers like Front, Freshwest, and Maarten Baas, has allowed Moooi to offer a number of additional design collections, like Non Random, and Dandelion, which are both cerebral and innovative in their own right. The brand also often works with other designers like Studio Job, and Ron Gilad.

While Moooi's designs may focus heavily on lighting fixtures and suspension systems, like chandeliers and pendants, there are also several Moooi Lamps that give design lovers even more style to place on their surfaces.

    Maarten Baas
Maarten Baas Dutch designer Maarten Baas (19/02/1978) was born in Arnsberg, Germany and moved to The Netherlands in 1979 where he grew up. Upon graduating from high school in 1995 he began his studies at the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven. Baas designed the candleholder Knuckle, which was taken into production by Pols’ Potten, while he was still studying. In 2000 he studied for several months at the Politecnico di Milano, in Milan.

In June 2002 he graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven with two concepts. One of them being the now famous and generally known Smoke series, for which Baas charred furniture and treated the torched skeletons with a coating, turning them into useable pieces of furniture again.

Three of these Smoke pieces became part of the collection of Marcel Wanders’ international design label Moooi, who launched them during the Salone del Mobile in 2003, where they were welcomed with applause. This sensation was followed by a solo-show at Moss gallery in New York, one year later, where the Smoke series were expanded by design classics from the 20th century, including pieces by Rietveld, Eames, Gaudi and Sottsass. Soon the Smoke collection was considered by museums, critics, collectors and the design public as an iconic collection of modern design and Smoke has been taken into several permanent collections of influential museums around the world (a.o Victoria & Albert Museum, Groninger Museum, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts).

In 2005 Baas began collaborating with Bas den Herder, who is now responsible for the production and development of almost all of Maarten Baas’s designs. The founding of Studio Baas & den Herder made it possible to further work out Maarten’s unique, handmade pieces and to produce them on a larger scale. This new collaboration also allows Baas to take on even more ambitious projects for hotels, restaurants, galleries, museums and private commissioners from all over the world.
